DE
BERLIN // GIGOLO REC / ESKIMO REC
Like every well-educated-thirty-something, DJ Naughty has been influenced by the 80s: chucks, raiders bomber jackets, BMX bikes, asteroids and listening to Grandmaster Flash and The Message in his hometown of Ulm. So right, being a true Sicilian, Filippo moved his feet to hot new italo sounds and impressed the girls with his breakdance skills down the disco on sunday afternoons. Then he started to mix records at school parties, collected the network press and vinyls from Underground Resistance and Public Enemy, before being smashed by Westbam in Munich, who played Lil Louis' French Kiss twice in a row: Then, everything came together.
Filippo Naughty Moscatello won the TDK mixing contest and celebrated his first big success in Krefeld before finally meeting DJ Hell in the Oxa in Zurich. Both became friends and Hell booked him for some gigs to Munich. Later, Naughty met Russ Gabriel, released his first tracks in 1996 in collaboration with Tolis on Ferox Records and became resident at Munich's famous Ultraschall. When Hell founded International Deejay Gigolos in 1997, DJ Naughty and David Carretta were responsible for the first sounds of this new-born baby and Naughty also went on to co-produce Hell's breakthrough solo album Munich Machine.
A visit to Chicago became the turning point in his career: he met Paul Johnson and decided to focus more on his mixing skills, his way of production and his musical selection. He read Mel Cheren?s book "My life and the Paradise Garage", analysed the sets of Larry Levan, Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles and started his quest for the holy grail of jack! In 2001 DJ Naughty finally moved to Berlin and finished his first album Disco Volante on Gigolo. After joining Terranova in 2002 he went on to do a number of tracks for K7!, and if that wasnt enough he celebrated his UK No.1 chart topping track, his remixed version of `Big Fun`, the legendary 80`s tune by Inner City.
His talents went from strength to strength, Naughty became the resident of local and infamous Berlin club `Cookies` and `The Face` top 10 recommended `F.U.N.` bar and has even played fashion parties for Karl Lagerfeld and the 50th anniversary of top-photographer Mario Testino amongst his global DJ travels.
